From the recording Dropouts
One of my favourite tunes, and one that just about didn't make it onto "Traction Control" as I could never get the mix right. Enter Leo Margarit who completely blew it out of the water, delivering an end result that surpassed my wildest expectations.
A lot of the time I have a clear vision in mind head, and it often proves difficult to reconcile that with reality; so many things have to fall into place from the mix, to the arrangement, the tones etc - it's a miracle a lot of the stuff I produce is even listenable in this regard.
The final piece of the puzzle arrived in the form of Erik Igelström who laid down mandolin throughout. This scratched an itch I'd had for years; listening to copious amounts of R.E.M. during my childhood has instilled in me an affection for the mandolin, and nothing else will do once the sound is in my head. Thanks Erik for making my vision a reality!
The track itself has just about everything in it, and then some.
Fun fact: while tracking bass for this tune, Gustaf started the second verse on the wrong note, totally shifting the feel of the track (for the better!). Luckily he kept playing through it which allowed us to capture the magic and display it for posterity. Awesome!
