At long last, and after much shuffling, the tracks have been sent off for mastering, to none other than the one and only Jens Bogren of Fascination Street Studios. Jens needs no introduction, having mastered the very best out there (including many of my musical heroes). I can barely wait to hear the final result, and even less so to share it with the world. I daresay the same applies to Leo who has poured his heart and soul into both the drums and the mixing and production.
Oh and what's with the double EP thing? Well, to put it simply, 5 of the 9 tracks were recorded post Traction-Control and form an A-side of sorts (to use older terminology). Thematically and sonically they mesh very well making it a no-brainer. The B-side comprises 4 older tracks which didn't make my previous releases This Lousy T-Shirt or Traction Control, but were simply far too good to leave on the cutting room floor. These tracks have been lovingly resurrected and spruced up for your listening pleasure.
The play order is as follows:
1. Consequences
2. The Kitchen Sink
3. Sparkle
4. A Matter of Time
5. Undoing
1. It's Complicated
2. Not Long Now
3. Easy Does It
4. Call It Quits
Stay tuned for news of the release, as well as previews and stories from the recording and mixing sessions!
Well, it's been a while since Traction Control was released and I've been busy in the interim. To cut a long story short, my streak of productivity that began way back in 2016-2017 didn't really abate, and due to changing life circumstance I had plenty of reasons to keep writing new material. In the spring of 2020, in the midst of the first wave of Covid 19, I was due to release a track I'd written which marked a departure in style compared to my earlier material. One thing led to another and I suddenly found myself working together with Leo Margarit (Pain of Salvation) and Gustaf Hielm (ex Pain of Salvation, Mats & Morgan Band) on an album of 9 tracks.
At the time of writing we are well into the mixing process. With a bit of luck, the album will be ready to meet the new year 2021. For a sneak peak of what it sounds like, head on over to my Instagram page where I've got a couple of short clips of some of the tracks. It's gonna be a good one, and the whole band will be firing on all cylinders. As always, there'll be a bit of something for everyone on the album; guitarists, bassists, and drummers alike!
