The 80’s. A most defining decade for culture, not least music. A decade that has recently been riding a wave of popularity rooted in second-hand nostalgia fed by “new” musical styles such as Vapourwave among others. My contribution to this sonic landscape is Neon Flush - an homage to the best (and worst) excesses of the 80s - reedy clean guitars? Check. Cheesy rudimentary drums and synth-bass? Check. Ronald Reagan? Check. The target: Joe Satriani meets ZZ Top’s Afterburner with some Shrapnel records-style shred thrown in for good measure. I might have overdone it a little.
