From the recording Traction Control
When writing for this album began proper back in 2017, I attempted to write a tune that would describe the euphoric feeling I get when hitting the open road on a sunny day. As a car enthusiast, there are few things in life which match the satisfaction of a decent joyride, especially when the weather is favourable, and when life’s trials and tribulations simmer down long enough to allow for a short stint of carefree bliss to enjoy the smell of petrol and the roar of an engine accompanied by some good music. As the weeks went by, the track grew in scope and complexity - rocky verses and choruses gave way to an introspective and moody break, and thereafter an orchestral crescendo of sorts. This track very nearly didn’t make it onto the record, partly due to its odd nature, and partly due to anticipated production/mixing difficulties. One particular sticking point was the solo section, which I couldn’t figure out to save my life. Time passed and my creative drought persisted. Luckily, Mattias ‘IA’ Eklundh came to the rescue and laid down a sweet solo in his inimitable style. Thanks bud!
