One way to get the creative juices flowing is to acquire new toys. Echo came into existence when my oddball friend and colleague Juan Parra dumped his home-made reverb stompbox onto my desk one day. I took it home, plugged it in, and Echo was born. Sometimes (very rarely I might add) songs simply write themselves. In the case of Echo, keeping it simple throughout was key. After all the craziness of the tracks that preceded this one in the creative process I just wanted to breathe out a little and write something a bit more accessible and conventional. Sometimes things just don’t need to be crazy.
